Bill Motto

 Joe LaGuardia

Bill Motto  is a business owner, community leader, educator, coach, event/tournament director, and consultant who has over 30 years of experience running successful business, community, college, and sports organizations and programs.
As President and CEO of W.T. Motto Building Products for 22 years, Bill developed marketing, financial, human resource, and training programs that were instrumental in the success and growth of the business.
As the President of the Syracuse Sports Corporation (SSC) - Central New York's sports commission - for 20 years and as President of the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame as well as being a member of the Executive Board of the Syracuse Convention & Visitors Bureau, the American Lung Association, et al., he has not only been able to give back to the community but has also had the opportunity to lead these organizations on various important initiatives.  Bill has also been able to gain a clearer understanding and appreciation of volunteers and charitable groups in the community.
As a tenured college professor and Director of the Sport Managment Program at Cazenovia College, he was instrumental in teaching, training, and mentoring numerous college students toward successful careers in business and sport management.  Bill has also been a marketing professor at the State University of New York at Oswego and currently teaches marketing and management courses as an adjunct professor at Onondaga Commuinity College (OCC) in Syracuse.  He has also run many community forums and seminars as a professor and consultant.
Bill has coached at various levels and in a variety of sports (basketball, golf, baseball) for many years - recently completing a 4-year stint as Head Women's Basketball Coach at the Cazenovia College NCAA Division III program and is currently the Associate Head Coach of the nationally-ranked women's basketball program at OCC.  He has also been a men's basketball and golf coach at the college level.  His understanding of sports and athletics has been a valuable asset for his work in sport and event management.
Bill has also had the opportunity to direct and manage several national professional golf tour events - the MONY Syracuse Seniors Golf Classic (a PGA Champion's Tour event) for 10 yearrs and the Credit Union Classic (an LPGA Symetra Tour event) for three years.
As an independent consultant, Bill has worked on a variety of community, business, and sports events, projects, and initiatives that have enhanced the quality of life and the economic development of Central New York.  While acting as President of the Syracuse Sports Corporation, he maintained affiliations with national sports organizations which have proved fruitful to Motto LaGuardia Events.
Bill's attention to detail, research, and understanding of various constituencies involved with each MLE project, and his "people first" management style have helped to make each project successful.
Bill has recently been honored through his induction into the College at Oneonta's Athletics Hall of Fame as a member of the 1976-77 Men's Basketball Team of Distinction (he was the assistant coach for the team that played in the NCAA D-III national championship game) and through his recognition as Syracuse Convention & Visitors Bureau SuperStar for his contributions to the Syracuse community as President of the Syracuse Sports Corporation.
Joe LaGuardia was one of the most highly respected Fair Executives and Entertainment Buyers in the country.  He was honored by the entertainment industry with his induction into the International Entertainment Buyers Hall of Fame in 2012 - five months after his passing from Amyloidosis (a very rare blood disease).  Joe's wisdom and guidance during his five years a a Partner in Motto LaGuardia Events was instrumental in the success of the company,  The company will continue to be known as Motto LaGuardia Events as a way of remembering and honoring Joe.
The following is a short resume of Joe's accomplishments:
Joe was the Director of Marketing for the New York State Fair - one of the largest and most successful fairs in the country - for 32 years. During his tenure, Joe was able to lead the Fair to record attendance through his skill as a marketer and promoter.  His responsibilities at the Fair included statewide and regional public relations, promotions, and marketing.  Joe was also responsible for all of the entertainment negotiating, buying, booking, and advertisting while overseeing a yearly departmental budget of $5million.  He also worked with the Fair's advertising  agency in the development of each year's creative approach and statewide media plan.  He also acted as the primary media liaison and chief spokesperson for the Fair.
Joe was also the  Exective Director of the Syracuse Lakefront Development Corporation, the Director of Sales and Press Relations for the Syracuse Eagles Professional Hockey Club, the Sales, Pormotion, and Publicity Director for the Syracuse Blazers Hockey Club, an Account Executive for an advertising agency, and a reporter for the Syracuse Herald Journal/Post Standard - the area's local newspaper.
As the President and Board Member of a number of community organizations and associations (Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame, Central New York Arthritis Foundation, Bellevue Country Club, the Syracuse Chiefs Triple A Baseball Club), Joe was able to share his expertise with the community in leadership roles.
As a member of the International Entertainment Buyers Assoication (IEBA), the Academy of Country Music, and the International Association of Fairs and Expos (IAFE), Joe was not only able to expand his networking and contact opportunities for the benefit of his organizations but was able to share his expertise by conducting presentations and seminars concerning various aspects of event management.  Joe was also a hignly honored Certified Fair Executive (CFE).
Among the other honors bestowed on Joe were the Edward J. Kearney Award by the Blindmen and Criers for being an individual who has given back to the community, while the Syracuse Chiefs honored Joe by having their players and coaches wear a special "JOE" arm patch during the entire 2012 International League baseball season.
 

Rich Duda added to

Marketing Director

Born and raised in Syracuse, Rich has enjoyed a highly successful careeer in hospitality marketing and sales.  
His professional focus has been centered on the successful opening and ongoing operations of hotel, convention center, and gaming industry facilities - emphasizing the creation of advertising and marketing programs, event planning, and management and creative strategy development.  
With a BA degree from Carleton University, post graduate studies in business management, and selected independent study programs in the hospitality industry, the United States Air Force veteran with service in Air Force Headquarters Command, brings a wealth of event, marketing, and management expertise to Motto LaGuardia Events. 
Rich has been the recipient of numerous marketing and sales awards including the  prestigious Central New York Sales and Marketing Executives Lifetime Achievement Award. 
Prior to joining Motto LaGuardia Events, Rich was the Marketing Director for the Sherton Syracuse University Hotel and Conference Center and worked with Motto LaGuardia in developing and maintaining the Sheraton Girls Hockey Shootout for eight years.. 
Rich will be working on new project developemnt and marketing strategy in his new role at MLE.  Needless to say, he will be a welcome addition to the company..
